Subtle scent projection

Candles made with 100% natural soy wax, activated charcoal, and pure essential oils have a more subtle scent projection compared to those with synthetic fragrances. This is because we don’t use chemical additives like phthalates, which are often used to enhance and prolong the scent in artificially fragranced candles. Instead, our candles offer a natural, gentle aroma that’s true to the ingredients we use.

Proper candle burning

By taking these steps, you can extend the life of your candle, maintain its quality, and create a safe, pleasant environment in your home.

Initial burn

When you light your CharGlow candle for the first time, allow it to burn until the entire surface melts to the edges of the container. This creates an even wax pool and prevents tunneling, which occurs when the candle burns down the center, leaving unmelted wax around the edges. The initial burn is crucial and should last for about 4 hours.

Trim the wick

Before each use, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch. A properly trimmed wick promotes a steady, even burn and prevents the flame from getting too large. A long or crooked wick can cause uneven burning, dripping, or excessive smoking. Use a wick trimmer or scissors to trim the wick, and always do this when the candle is cool and unlit.

Burn time

Avoid burning your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. Long burning sessions can cause the wick to form a mushroom shape, which can lead to soot build-up and an unstable flame. Allow the candle to cool for at least two hours before relighting. Burning in shorter intervals ensures an even burn and helps maintain the candle’s quality.

Safety first

Always burn candles on a heat-resistant surface and away from flammable materials, drafts, and vibrations. Keep candles out of reach of children and pets, and never leave a burning candle unattended. Extinguish all candles when leaving a room or going to sleep.

Extinguishing the candle

To safely extinguish your CharGlow candle, use a candle snuffer or gently blow out the flame. Avoid using the lid to extinguish the candle, as this can produce smoke and cause the wick to smolder. Make sure the wick is upright and centered before the wax hardens.

Candle storage

Store your candles in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. This prevents the wax and fragrance from degrading. Keep the lid on your candle when not in use to protect it from dust and maintain its scent.

Reuse and recycle

Once your CharGlow candle has burned down to about 1/2 inch of wax, it’s time to stop using it. Burning it beyond this point can cause the container to overheat. Clean out any remaining wax and reuse the ceramic jar for storage, as a planter, or in any creative way you like. Remember to recycle any packaging materials.
